EVENT INFORMATION

“A good story can take you all around the world without even leaving your room”

Tall Stories normally tours shows around the UK – and all over the world – so we’re very sad that we can’t carry on as normal at the moment. However, it’s not going to stop us reaching out to our audiences this autumn!

We proudly present a special livestreamed version of our much-loved reimagining of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s classic book The Snail and the Whale.

Join an adventurous young girl and her seafaring father as they reimagine the story of a tiny snail’s incredible trip around the world on the tail of a great big, grey-blue humpback whale.

Live music, storytelling and plenty of audience interaction bring the story vividly to life in this heart-warming adventure for everyone aged four and up. This is not a pre-recorded video – anything could happen!

And as Tall Stories is a registered charity, every ticket you buy will help to support our current and future work – as well as the venues we tour to. Come and join us on our adventure!

This performance can be viewed from home or in person at the Belgrade Theatre- please purchase tickets accordingly, there are two separate ticketing options! Please see below for separate information regarding the ‘at home’ or the 'in person' performance.

At home viewing-

This performance will be broadcast live to you at home from the Tall Stories Studio, in partnership with our friends at the Belgrade Theatre. You can watch on your browser or via Apple/Android/Amazon Fire TV. Our virtual doors will open at 10.45am and the performance will begin at 11.00am and last approximately an hour. There will be a live chat function that will allow you to interact with our performers and join in with the fun!

We are endeavouring to provide a captioned performance of the show. If you require captioning for your viewing, please get in touch with us (info@tallstories.org.uk) before purchasing your ticket.

In person viewing - limited tickets available!

There are a limited number of tickets to view The Snail and the Whale live-stream in person at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry! Seats will be allocated by the Belgrade in advance to ensure social distancing, and due to this we regret you are unable to choose your seat location.

If you have any access requirements or require a specific seat location please get in touch in advance with the Belgrade via boxoffice@belgrade.co.uk.

Groups are requested to keep to a maximum size of 6. We regret groups larger than six will be seated separately. If multiple tickets are bought for one group of up to 6 please contact boxoffice@belgrade.co.uk to ensure you are seated together.

If for any reason the performance is unable to go ahead, you will be able to watch the show at home via a link that will be sent out in your booking confirmation email. Please keep an eye out for a second email from the Belgrade in the week before the performance which will confirm your in-person booking and contain information about your visit to the theatre.

The Belgrade Theatre's covid safety measures can be found here. Please contact the Belgrade via boxoffice@belgrade.co.uk if you have any concerns or queries about their social distancing and covid-secure measures!

Restrictions

The Snail and the Whale is suitable for everyone aged four and up. This is a reimagining of the book and we find that children younger than four can find it harder to follow along and stay engaged. Please do not attempt to record the performance in any way or attempt to access it on more than one device with the same ticket code. The live chat function will enable you to interact with our performers. Please keep your comments relevant and family-friendly!

Waiver

We are new to live streaming and, as with any live event (particularly one mixed with technology!), something could go wrong. If we can’t stream the performance for whatever reason you will be offered a refund or you can move your ticket to another performance.
